Skin disorders - Prologue and Rationale
Eczema is a serious skin disorder that causes itching, redness and rash marks on the skin. It is serious during infancy but till the adulthood it tends to improve. It is the most common and most troublesome of all skin diseases. It results from the toxic condition of the system. Eczema is not a contagious disease. It also causes dryness and flakiness of the skin. It is also known as atopic dermatitis. It can develop on any place in the body, most commonly it appears on the hands, wrists, neck, face, arms, upper chest and back of the knees. It is derived from a Greek word meaning ‘to boil’.
Symptoms
The eczema is indicated by redness and swelling of the skin. Later there is formation of vesicles and severe heat. If these vesicles rupture a clear fluid oozes out from the skin. There is itching, dryness and scaling of the skin.
Causes
The various causes of eczema are:
• Allergies
• Specific diseases like asthma, hay fewer
• Varicose veins
• Unhygienic conditions
• Failure of the system to excrete the poisons from the body.
• Faulty metabolism
• Constipation
• Cold and dry weather
• Nutritional deficiencies
• Stress
• Emotional problems
